Laura Cheeseman

Laura Cheeseman

Laura loved art from an early age and attended Art College at the age of 16. Whilst balancing a career in financial services alongside her family, she moved around the UK and emigrated to Australia for a while. Laura was an avid art collector, but rarely found the time to paint herself, although she always knew that, one day, she would pick up her brushes again and immerse herself in creating pictures of her own.

Many years and two grown up daughters later, Laura yearned for a new creative adventure and, after numerous memorable trips to France, in 2020 she decided to set herself up as a professional artist there and focus her time on painting as her new career. Laura now has studios in Somerset and Normandy and shares her time between the two. Both places offer quiet countryside, apple orchards, pretty stone houses and villages, huge skies and beautiful coastlines nearby which influence her work greatly.

Laura’s love of seascapes evokes fond memories of spending her formative years by the sea in Dorset.

Over time, her work has taken on a more impressionist and abstract style, offering the viewer a very personal interpretation of each piece.

Martock Gallery is delighted to be working with Laura and offers many of her original pieces of artwork for sale.
